HONOR Magic9 Pro Max: The ARRI Cameras Are the Real Story

The HONOR Magic9 Pro Max pairs dual 200MP cameras with ARRI image science, bringing LogC3 recording, professional colour tools, and a more complete video workflow to HONOR’s flagship. If the phone launches in India, eligible buyers may be able to shop for it on Easy EMIs with Bajaj Finance.

HONOR launched the Magic9 series in China on 28 September 2026, with the Magic9, Magic9 Pro Max, and Magic9 Super Edition. There is no standard HONOR Magic9 Pro in the current lineup, with the company instead moving directly to the HONOR Magic9 Pro Max as its top camera flagship. The big change isn’t just the dual 200MP cameras. HONOR has worked with professional cinema-camera company ARRI to bring parts of its image science, colour workflow, and video tools to the phone.

HONOR Magic9 Pro Max specifications

Despite being marketed as a cinematic camera phone, HONOR Magic9 Pro Max packs several notable hardware features under its hood. The table below highlights the key specifications of the phone:

HONOR Magic9 Pro Max ARRI cameras: What the collaboration actually brings to the table

HONOR has collaborated with ARRI, the professional cinema-camera company, to build a more serious video system into the HONOR Magic9 Pro Max. HONOR developed the phone, lenses, and camera hardware, while ARRI worked on the image science and colour workflow.

So, the ARRI branding is not about ARRI-made lenses. It mainly changes how the phone records colour, handles footage, and prepares it for editing:

● Dual 200MP cameras with OIS

The main camera uses a 200MP 1/1.28-inch sensor with an f/1.57 aperture and OIS, while the 200MP periscope camera has a 1/1.4-inch sensor, f/2.6 aperture, OIS, and 3.5x optical zoom. The large sensors and OIS help with light capture and steadier handheld footage, while the telephoto camera gives users optical zoom instead of relying only on digital cropping.

● ARRI LogC3 for wider dynamic range

HONOR Magic9 Pro Max can record in ARRI LogC3 using the ARRI Wide Gamut 3 colour space. Log video looks flat when first recorded, but that is deliberate. It preserves more information in highlights, shadows and colours, giving creators more control when they adjust exposure, contrast, and colour later in editing software.

● 14 ARRI Looks and 87 colour presets

The HONOR Magic9 Pro Max includes 14 ARRI Looks that can be previewed while recording, along with access to a wider library of 87 predefined looks. These apply controlled changes to colour and contrast, so users can give footage a particular visual style without starting from a flat Log file and building the grade themselves.

● 10-bit 4:2:2 video with ARRI CINEMA Mode

The ARRI workflow supports APV 10-bit 4:2:2 recording and cinema-mode video at up to 4K 60fps. Simply put, the 10-bit format captures far more colour steps than standard 8-bit video, while 4:2:2 retains more colour detail. That gives editors more room to adjust skin tones, skies, and difficult lighting without the footage breaking apart as quickly.

● HONOR’s H1 imaging chip for RAW processing

The dedicated HONOR Imaging Chip H1 works alongside the ARRI imaging pipeline to process camera data before the final video is produced. The phone also adds directional audio recording and supports optional SmallRig accessories and HONOR G200 and G500 teleconverters, giving users more control over sound, handling, and longer-range shooting.
